The fact that our recycled PET can be recycled again and again in an infinite loop is what makes our process so exceptional. At BMP Recycling (Blue Mountain Plastics Recycling), we buy PET plastic bales from municipal recycling facilities across Canada and the Northern US. We process and sort the materials into different colours of plastic, removing any foreign content. PET flake is produced and sent to our Ice River Feversham facility for purification to food grade plastic which can then be used to make new food containers, including our 100% recycled blue and green water bottles.

We produce clear and blue plastic flake that will be used in our 100% recycled water bottles.

Previously, green flake was destined to be down-cycled or sent to landfill but now we use it to produce our 100% Ice River Green Bottle Co. green water bottles.

GROWING OUR RECYCLING OPERATIONS.

Our facility recycles 55 million pounds of PET plastic per year; mostly coming from Ontario’s blue box program – we love to see our own bottles come back home for another round. As we expand, our operations are opening up to recycling even more types of sustainable packaging.

BRINGING MORE RECYCLING SOLUTIONS TO THE TABLE.

Thermoform clam shell packaging is a type of food grade pre-formed plastic tray that normally can’t be recycled. We convinced Materials Recovery Facilities it could be included in our PET bales so that it gets recycled into our 100% recycled water bottles. This saves millions more pounds of plastic from going to landfills each year.

We make our rPET resin entirely out of 100% recycled plastic. And we do it in a closed loop where the resin we sell is made into sustainable packaging that’s recycled and returned to us to be turned into resin – over and over again.

It starts with an environmentally friendly approach

To make our high-quality resin, we begin by purchasing PET plastic bales from municipal recycling programs. We sort the plastic and grind it into flakes then we wash and purify it to create a food grade plastic pellet. By choosing to use recycled plastic, we not only reduce the need for virgin plastic – we also use less energy and less water than is needed for virgin resin.
